Writeup: Vivian Wu, a beautiful Chinese actress, made
her feature film debut in The Last Emperor (1987), playing
Wen Hsiu, First Concubine. She has subsequently appeared in
a number of films, including Shadow of China (1990), Iron
& Silk (1991), Heaven & Earth (1993), Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles III (1993), The Joy Luck Club (1993), Woman Rose (1996),
The Legend of Pig Eye (1998), Eight and a Half Women (1999),
Roses Are Red (2000). Obviously hindered by her ethnicity,
people of varied ethnic backgrounds are often pigeon holed
in Hollywood, she has not been able to breakthrough to great
stardom, although she remains an employable actress. Of her
TV movies, the Vanishing Son series is notable. In 1994 she
appeared in parts I-IV (which is all the parts I believe),
of this exciting martial arts series of TV movies, also starring
Russell Wong and Rebecca Gayheart. |
