| The
Writeup: An amazingly attractive blonde actress, Virna
Lisi first appeared on film at 16, in the foreign film E Napoli
canta (1953). It would be thirteen years before she made her
US film debut, although many US filmgoers knew her from Eighteen
Year Olds (1955), Duel of the Titans (1961), Don't Tempt the
Devil (1962), and Casanova '70 (1965). Her American debut
came in the George Axelrod directed How to Murder Your Wife
(1965), an impressive performance on her part. She subsequently
starred in American films Assault on a Queen (1966, opposite
Frank Sinatra), Not with My Wife, You Don't! (1966, opposite
Tony Curtis and George C. Scott), If It's Tuesday, This Must
Be Belgium (1969), and The Christmas Tree (1969, opposite
William Holden). There weren't many other American films in
her career, despite her popularity and beauty. She returned
to Europe, where she was even more popular, and pursued both
decorative roles and parts that called for more dramatic weight.
She continues to act to this day, although mostly in Italian
made for TV movies. |
