Writeup: An accomplished actress of both stage and
screen, Tyne Daly is best known as a TV actress, on the shows
Cagney & Lacey, Christy, and Judging Amy. She is the recipient
of 13 Emmy nominations for acting, and the winner of 6 statues,
a major accomplishment for any actress. Tyne began her career
in 1969, playing a small role in the feature film John And
Mary. The 70s brought a mix of feature films (Angel Unchained,
Play It As It Lays, The Enforcer, Speedtrap and Telefon) and
TV work (most notably the mini series The Law). It wasn't
until 1982, the year Cagney & Lacey made it's debut, that
Tyne became a major star. The show was a huge hit and it remains
Tyne's most notable role to date. She peppered her resume
with more TV movies after the show's final year and was cast
on the show Christy in 1994. It was short lived, although
she was lauded for her performance, and she made a return
to series TV in 1999 with Judging Amy, another successful
