Writeup: Tippi Hedren worked as a model in her teen
years, making her film debut in 1950's The Petty Girl (an
uncredited role). It was in 1963, after she had been discovered
by Alfred Hitchcock, that she made her career debut with The
Birds. The movie was wildly popular, although Tippi's performance
was criticized. She appeared in another Hitchcock film the
next year, Marine, opposite Sean Connery, but again was criticized
for her poor performance. 1967's Chaplin movie A Countess
From Hong Kong fared no better, and her chance at superstar
leading lady status went right out the window. She didn't
work frequently in the 70s or 80s, but has undergone a bit
of a renaissance in the past ten to fifteen years. She works
more nowadays than she ever has, although most of the films
are independent films or forgettable feature films. |
