Writeup: Tina Louise made her feature film debut with
a supporting part in God's Little Acre (1958). However, it
wasn't until 1964 and the popular series Gilligan's Island
that Tina achieved any measure of fame. Playing the Marilyn
Monroe-esque stranded movie star, Tina became the fantasy
of many men the world over. What's odd is that the show only
ran for three years, 1964-67, yet has managed to remain something
of a cultural phenomenon. I believe the ratings in those three
years were huge, but the show was canceled nonetheless. After
Gilligan's Island Tina was never really able to get a bustling
acting career going, but she did appear in a number of feature
films, including The Seventh Floor (1967), The Wrecking Crew
(1969), How to Commit Marriage (1969), The Good Guys and the
Bad Guys (1969), The Happy Ending (1969), The Stepford Wives
(1975), Mean Dog Blues (1978), Hellriders (1984), O.C. and
Stiggs (1987) and Johnny Suede (1991). She has also appeared
as a series regular on the TV shows Dallas, Rituals, and All
My Children. |
