Writeup: As a ten year old, Tatum starred in the film
Paper Moon (1973) and won a supporting actress Academy Award
for the performance, the youngest actress ever to do so. Following
that performance, Tatum became one of Hollywood's most in
demand young actresses, with roles in The Bad News Bears,
Nickelodeon & International Velvet all boosting her profile.
However, when she tried to move on to more mature roles and
move her career into the adult realm, Tatum couldn't manage
to establish herself as a serious actress and her career stumbled.
In 1985 she retired from acting and married John McEnroe.
That went up in flames in 1994, and McEnroe has subsequently
written a tell all book, exposing Tatum's supposed drug abuse
problems. Now perhaps as famous for her abuse problems and
marriage as she ever was for acting, Tatum is getting back
into films with roles in independent films. |
