Writeup: Susan Clark grew up in Toronto, Canada and
trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art as a young actress.
She made her feature film debut in Banning (1967) and chose
to stick to roles that required tough dramatic work, eschewing
the stardom that she probably could have had in favor of tough
acting roles. She was a fairly skillful actress, appearing
in such feature films as Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here (1969),
Skullduggery (1970), Skin Game (1971), Showdown (1973), Airport
1975 (1974), Night Moves (1975), Sherlock Holmes and Saucy
Jack (1979), The North Avenue Irregulars (1979), Promises
in the Dark (1979), Double Negative (1980) and the decidedly
undramatic Porky's (1982). The latter was essentially her
last movie appearance outside of a small role in Butterbox
Babies (1995). This was because in 1983 she was cast as Katherine
Papadapolis in the hit series Webster, playing wife to her
real life husband, Alex Karras. The show, which starred Emmanuel
Lewis, ran until 1987 and made a star out of Emmanuel. The
two parents also achieved a level of fame, although Susan
worked very little after the show signed off. Her latest project
was Emily of New Moon (1998), a Canadian television series
that, from what I can tell, didn't stay on the air for all
that long. |
