Writeup: Shelley Fabares has had a long and varied
career, including a brief foray into music, and a long acting
career in both television and feature films. She made her
feature film debut in The Girl Rush (1955) and appeared in
a number of films in the 50s and 60s before moving to television
permanently. Some of her films from that era include Rock,
Pretty Baby (1956), Summer Love (1958), Ride the Wild Surf
(1964), Ride the Wild Surf (1964), Spinout (1966), Clambake
(1967) and A Time to Sing (1968). 1958 was her first experience
on a TV show, playing Mary Stone, the daughter, on the Donna
Reed Show from 1958-1963. She was really a kid at this point,
but by the 70s she would be growing a full fledged adult career
that would flourish on TV. Her resume includes a number of
unsuccessful TV show, as well as a few hits, and goes like
this: The Brian Keith Show (1972-74), The Practice (1976),
Forever Fernwood (1977), Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1977),
Hello, Larry (1979), Highcliffe Manor (1979), One Day at a
Time (1981-84), and playing Craig T. Nelson's wife on Coach
(1989-1997). She has starred in a number of TV movies, including
the classic sports movie Brian's Song (1971), where she played
Joy Piccolo, Donovan's Kid (1979), The Canterville Ghost (1985)
for PBS, and Deadly Relations (1993) with Robert Urich. |
