Writeup: Sandra Dee enjoyed a short but popular career
in the late 50s and 60s as both a child actress and, briefly,
an adult performer. She debuted in Until They Sail (1957)
and by 1959 had gained worldwide fame playing the title character
in Gidget (1959). This movie, combined with the Tammy films,
Tammy Tell Me True (1961) and Tammy and the Doctor (1963),
gave her a level of international fame, that while sweet,
didn't last long. By the time the mid 60s rolled around she
was mostly forgotten and her career had mostly petered out
by 1970. Other feature films include The Reluctant Debutante
(1958), The Restless Years (1958), And Ride a Tiger (1959),
The Wild and the Innocent (1959), Portrait in Black (1960),
Come September (1961), Take Her, She's Mine (1963), That Funny
Feeling (1965), Doctor, You've Got to Be Kidding (1967), and
The Dunwich Horror (1970). |
