Writeup: Sally Kellerman made her feature film debut
in a bit part in Reform School Girl (1957), and toiled in
roles of that same caliber for more than a decade before being
cast as Maj. Margaret 'Hot Lips' O'Houlihan in Robert Altman's
MASH (1970), a turn that earned her an Oscar nomination for
Best Supporting Actress and made her a desirable screen presence,
something she has taken full advantage of, appearing in more
than 50 feature films in her career. She experienced her creative
heyday in the 70s and by the 80s and 90s was turning up in
low budget flicks, often quite silly in nature. Notable films
on her resume include Slither (1972), Lost Horizon (1973),
The Big Bus (1976), Welcome to L.A. (1976), A Little Romance
(1979), It Rained All Night the Day I Left (1980), Head On
(1980). After this film she took a break from acting, returning
in 1985 with Moving Violations. She has since appeared in,
among others, Meatballs III (1987), Three for the Road (1987),
Skirmish (1989), Younger and Younger (1993), Robert Altman's
Prêt-à-Porter (1994), The Maze (1997) and American Virgin
(2000). She also appeared in a number of TV movies in the
80s. |
