Writeup: Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania,
Rya attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, graduating
in 1991 as a theatre major. She put this training to good
use and was appearing in the feature film Arctic Blue (1993,
an action film set in the Alaska wilderness and starring Rutger
Hauer; Rya had a sizable role) not long after her graduation.
1994 would bring the TV movie The Second Greatest Story Ever
Told and the mini series Heaven & Hell: North & South, Book
III, the third installment in the popular mini series, although
I think the third one wasn't as well liked as the first two
(especially the first). In 1995 she appeared in the BBC mini
series The Buccaneers (1995), about a group of four American
girls (Rya starred as one) who go to England to find suitable
husbands. Other feature films on her resume include Jaded
(1996), Home Alone 3 (1997), Deep Impact (1998), Hudson River
Blues (1999), Frontline (1999), Say You'll Be Mine (1999).
Aside from the TV movie She Creature (2001), she has not done
any work in the new millenium. She is married to fellow actor
Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal) and has been since 1994. |
