Writeup: Ruth Buzzi has led such a long and varied
career it's hard to get a hold on it. Born in 1936 in Rhode
Island, Ruth's first Hollywood experience came as a voice
over artist on the classic 60s animated show The Jetsons.
Since then she has shown herself to be a gifted comic actress
on a series of variety shows and sitcoms. The first was The
Entertainers (1964), followed by The Steve Allen Comedy Hour
(1967) and, most notably, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968).
Ruth was only one of three performers to appear on every episode
of Laugh-In, which ran from 1968-1973. A career in comedy
was cemented at that point and she has since appeared on The
Krofft Supershow (1976), You Can't Do That on Television (1979),
Lucky Luke (1991) and done voice work for The Smurfs (1981),
The Berenstain Bears (1985) and Sesame Street (1993). Her
feature film resume includes Freaky Friday (1976 - her feature
film debut), The Villain (1979), The Being (1983), Dixie Lanes
(1988), and Boys Will Be Boys (1997). |
