Writeup: Renee Taylor has been in showbusiness she
1959 when she was a regular performer on The Tonight Show
and The Jack Paar Show, both of which she peformed on until
1962. She also made her feature film debut that year in The
Mugger (1959). Her other early feature film was The Errand
Boy (1961). In 1965 she married Joseph Bologna and embarked
on a writing career as well as acting. The two wrote the hit
Broadway play Lovers and Other Strangers and shared an Oscar
nomination for their film adaptation of the play in 1970.
Other films Renee appeared in include The Producers (1968,
playing Eva Braun), A New Leaf (1971), Jennifer on My Mind
(1971), Last of the Red Hot Lovers (1972), Lovesick (1983),
The End of Innocence (1990), All I Want for Christmas (1991),
Returning Mickey Stern (2002) and Lady Killers (2003). She
seems to do feature films in bursts, taking off long periods
of time here every decade or so. She has a long history on
TV shows in addition to her feature film work, including the
aforementioned latenight shows, Forever Fernwood (1977-78),
Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (1977-78), Dream On (1992-94),
Daddy Dearest (1993), and The Nanny (1993-1999). |
