Writeup: Throughout the early 90s Rachel True was
an actress knocking on the door of Hollywood's big time, just
waiting for the right role to get her noticed and lead to
primo roles. She began her career with a recurring role on
The Cosby Show (2 episodes), and also guest starred on Hangin'
With Mr. Cooper, Renegade, Beverly Hills 90210 and Dream On
by 1995. In this time she nailed her first feature film, the
rap parody CB4, starring Chris Rock. 1994 brought the dreadful
erotic thriller, The Nosferatu Diaries: Embrace of the Vampire
(1994), which also starred Alyssa Milano and featured lots
of ridiculous plot points and gratuitious sex scenes. That
movie all but forgotten, she landed what I think of as her
big break with 1996's cult hit The Craft. The role got her
noticed and she has consistently appeared in feature films
since then. Such films include Nowhere (1997), the female
lead in Half Baked (1998), With or Without You (1998), The
Auteur Theory (1999), and New Best Friend (2002). Turning
to TV, she had a six episode recurring role on The Drew Carey
Show and appeared on four episodes of Once And Again before
landing her very own TV show, the UPN series Half & Half.
She is currently still with the show. |
