| The
Writeup: Born in Italy in 1932 Pier signed a contract
with MGM after appearing in Leonide Moguy's Tomorrow Is Too
Late (1950), where she played a sensitive, delicate teenager.
She subsequently appeared in Teresa (1951), Sombrero (1953),
The Silver Chalice (1955), Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956)
and Merry Andrew (1958), among others, but never really found
her comfort zone in American films. She wasn't able to create
stardom for herself and she starred in mostly clunkers like
Panic in Bangkok (1964), M.M.M. 83 (1965), Berlin, Appointment
for the Spies (1966), Code Name, Red Roses (1968), Addio,
Alexandra (1969), and ˇViva América! (1969). On September
19, 1971 Pier overdosed on barbituates and died, an apparent
suicide. |
