Writeup: A former model, Paulina Porizkova's father
moved to the south of Sweden in the 70s and then hired people
to "rescue" Paulina and her mother from Czechoslovakia,
not an easy thing during the cold war. The family was eventually
reunited in Sweden, and although her parents eventually separated,
Paulina was able to pursue a life free of governmental restraints.
She joined the Elite Modeling Agency in the 80s and quickly
became world famous. She did print ads for Sprite, Christian
Dior, Joanie Char and many, many more, as well as appearing
on the cover of countless magazines. She even did a spread
in Play boy in 1987 (that's bound to make you famous). Her
acting career is actually fairly long lived, but it didn't
begin seriously until 1996. Before that she had appeared in
model type roles in Portfolio (1983), Covergirl (1984), and
Anna (1987). In 1996 she appeared in Female Perversions, a
small independent film. Her acting career was off and running
and she has appeared in 12 feature films since then (as of
2003). Other notable roles include Long Time Since (1997),
Thursday (1998), The Intern (2000), After the Rain (2000),
Roomates (2001, a low budget comedy on which she was the star,
writer, and director), People I Know (2002) and the upcoming
Knots (2004). |
