Writeup: Patricia Velazquez is a former model who
has developed a wonderful acting career for herself. She was
a superstar model in the early 90s, hitting the big catalogs,
magazine covers, and swimsuit stuff. She began her feature
film career with 1996's Le Jaguar, and continued with Eruption
(1997), Beowulf (1998) and No Vacancy (1999) before landing
the big fish with a role in The Mummy (1999). She played Anck
Su Namun, the resurrected wife of the dead mummy, and although
she didn't have many lines (I'm not sure she had any in English),
she became a huge hit (and an enormous traffic draw on the
internet). Four little known independent films followed in
the year 2000 before she reprised her role in The Mummy Returns.
This time, there was an amazing fight between her and Rachel
Weisz, and her part was much expanded. Once again she became
a big hit on the internet, and had a raise Hollywood profile.
She appeared in the 2002 mini series Fidel and has two projects
scheduled for 2004. |
