Writeup: The daughter of Marvin Gaye, Nona has recently
begun an acting career and looks like she's a shoe in for
success. Her first credited role is in 1989's Harlem Nights,
but she was 15 at the time and it doesn't really count. Her
adult career began in 2001 with a role as Belinda Ali in the
Michael Mann picture Ali (she starred opposite Will Smith).
Up next was The Matrix Reloaded, a picture in which she replaced
Aaliyah after her untimely passing. Nona appears as Zee in
both of the sequels and in 2004 will appears in The Polar
Express, along with Tom Hanks. Also of note, Nona recorded
a song, I'm Overjoyed, that reached #17 on the R&B charts
in 1992. |
