Writeup: Michelle Yeoh is one of China's most popular
film actresses, kicking butt in action films since 1984. Although
she hasn't worked nearly as frequently as many of her cohorts,
only 25 films to her credit since 1984 (as of 2003), Michelle
remains a huge star, with a fairly high profile in the US
as well. Her two biggest roles in the US are as an improbable
Bond girl in the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies, where she
did some serious ass kicking, and in Crouching Tiger, Hidden
Dragon, a hugely successful crossover film. Although it received
much criticism in Michelle's native China, the film was a
huge hit in the US, and it's stars enjoyed a period of popularity
in the US. |
