The Writeup: An amazing talent, Michelle Phillips has led both a successful career as a musician and an actress. An original member of the popular 60s group The Mamas And The Papas, the group had a number of hits in the 60s with their beautiful harmonies and lovely melodies. Michelle was found to be having an affair with Dennis Doherty (the other Papa was her husband John Phillips) and was kicked out of the group for a short while. The fans, and the group, missed Michelle and she was brought back, but the magic was gone and the band shortly broke up. In 1971 she appeared in the feature film The Last Movie, her debut. She has subsequently appeared in more than 15 feature films, 20 TV movies, and as a series regular on 7 TV shows. Most people probably know her best for her work on primetime dramas. Her first big role was on Knots Landing, where she played Anne Matheson in 1987, 1989, and from 1990-1993. She then appeared on the short lived drama Second Chances (1993) and then had a role in the Aaron Spelling nighttime soap Malibu Shores, which was short lived. A short role in 1998 on Beverly Hills 90210 followed and her latest TV work was on the WB series Popular (2000), playing Hellacious Akers. In the 70s she appeared in a few memorable feature films, including Dillinger (1973), Valentino (1977), and Bloodline (1979). Most of her other feature films have been small, little known movies.
