Writeup: Melanie Brown is also known as Mel B., or
perhaps you know her better as Scary Spice, the only African
American member of the uber popular all female group The Spice
Girls. Melanie rose to superstardom with the Spice Girls,
making money hand over fist and selling tens of millions of
albums around the world. Like all groups of this nature, they
broke up, although the Girls seemed to go down the crapper
faster than usual. Melanie embarked upon a solo career shortly
thereafter, and even had a relatively successful debut album,
scoring five top 20 hits, including a number one single. However,
apparently it wasn't enough for her label, because she and
Virgin Records parted company in 2001. Melanie said she wanted
to concentrate on her acting career, and who could blame her.
She has actually become something of a successful British
actress, appearing in the TV show Burn It (2003) and the feature
films LD 50 Lethal Dose (2003) and the upcoming The Seat Filler
(2004). Best of luck to her, and I'd say she has a fine start
on an acting career. |
