Writeup: Maryam D'Abo, born in London, England, remains
a fairly popular figure to this day due to her presence in
a Bond film, namely The Living Daylights, in 1987. It was
Timothy Dalton's first film as James Bond, and one of the
series' most unsuccessful. However, a Bond girl is always
popular with a certain segment of the population, namely young
men, and Maryam has retained a certain level of celebrity.
She has also done a great deal of work since the film, further
enhancing her celebrity. A very pretty girl with luscious
lips, Maryam made her feature film debut in Xtro (1983), an
alien abduction film done on a fairly low budget. She subsequently
appeared in Until September (1984), White Nights (1985), and
had a bit part in Out of Africa (1985) before landing the
role of Kara Milovy in The Living Daylights (1987). She has
since appeared in a number of B level films, which is the
fate of many former Bond girls. Among these films are Immortal
Sins (1991), Leon the Pig Farmer (1992), Tropical Heat (1993),
Tomcat: Dangerous Desires (1993), The Browning Version (1994),
Solitaire for 2 (1995), An American Affair (1997) and The
Sea Change (1998). She has also appeared on the sci-fi TV
show Something Is Out There (1988) and Les Cadavres exquis
de Patricia Highsmith (1990). |
