| The
Writeup: Marion Ross is in that echelon of legendary
TV moms, appearing alongside the likes of Florence Henderson
and Shirley Jones as some of the most famous 70s TV mothers.
Her most popular role was as Marion Cunningham, the mother
of Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard), on the hugely popular TV
show Happy Days. She played Marion for ten years (1974-1984).
However, her TV career began 20 years earlier with a role
on the TV show Life With Father (1953-1955). She has also
appeared as a series regular on the shows The Gertrude Berg
Show (1961), Mr. Novak (1963-64), Paradise Bay (1965), The
Love Boat (1986), Brooklyn Bridge (1991), and Postcards From
Heaven (1999). Man alive that's a lot of TV work, and that's
just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Marion's career.
She has also appeared in more than 20 feature films and 19
TV movies. She has been nominated for five Emmy's in her career,
including for Happy Days and Brooklyn Bridge. Her most notable
feature films include The Proud and Profane (1956), Lizzie
(1957), Operation Petticoat (1959), Colossus: The Forbin Project
(1970), The Evening Star (1996) and The Last Best Sunday (1999). |
