Writeup: Born in England in 1967, Marianne is a talented
actress of both stage and screen, having trained at Royal
Academy of Dramatic Art in London and performed at the Royal
National Theatre. Her feature film debut came in a small character
role in London Kills Me (1991), but it wasn't until 5 years
later that we would see her on stage again, this time in the
British film Secrets & Lies. It was her supporting performance
as Hortense Cumberbatch that announced her as an acting talent
and she became the first black female to be nominated for
an acting Oscar. She has subsequently appeared in the feature
films Mr. Jealousy (1997), Nowhere to Go (1998), The 24 Hour
Woman (1999), 28 Days (2000), The Cell (2000) and Spy Game
(2001). However, she has become most popular with American
audiences for her role in the popular Thursday night CBS series
Without A Trace, a role she began in 2002. It has become a
competitor for ER, once the most invincible show on TV, and
will likely remain on the air for many years to come. |
