Writeup: A long time actress, Maria Pitillo was born
in Elmira, New York in 1965 and made her feature film debut
in Wise Guys (1986), playing a masseuse. The very next year
she landed a nice role on Ryan's Hope, playing Nancy Lewis
for two years, from 1987-1989. The next ten years were filled
with a great deal of work on TV and in feature films, and
Maria ended up putting together a most impressive resume.
Feature films in the 90s include White Palace (1990), Chaplin
(1992, playing Mary Pickford), True Romance (1993), Natural
Born Killers (1994), Bye Bye, Love (1995, playing Matthew
Modine's love interest), Dear God (1996) and Something to
Believe In (1998). 1998 also brought a starring role in the
monster movie Godzilla, which I believe, had it been a well
done movie, would have led to much bigger and better things
for Maria, perhaps one of her TV shows working out. Instead,
Godzilla was crap piled upon crap, and she's only been in
two feature films since. She hasn't been cast in a TV series
since then either, but a funny turn on Friends in 2003 may
change that. Other TV series work includes Middle Ages (1992),
South of Sunset (1993), Partners (1995, a Friends knockoff
featuring Maria, Jon Cryer and Tate Donovan. I thought it
was quite funny but the ratings didn't come through and it
was yanked after season 1), House Rules (1998) and In the
Loop (1998). 2001 brought her an extended guest starring role
on Providence, the NBC series, and aside from her guest starring
role on Friends, she hasn't really been heard from much since
2000 (I swear, Godzilla sank her career). |
