Writeup: A veteran of The Actor's Conservatory in
New York City, Malinda Williams had her first Hollywood exposure
with a guest appearance on The Cosby Show in 1987 (she would
appear again in 1990). In 1990 she also provided the voice
for Michelle on the popular animated show Captain Planet and
the Planeteers. She landed her first TV movie in 1993 with
Laurel Avenue, an acclaimed HBO movie about an urban family
and their neighborhood. Her feature film career began in 1996
with A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (1996), which starred
Martin Lawrence. She also appeared in Sunset Park (1996),
High School High (1996), Damn Whitey (1997), An Invited Guest
(1999), The Wood (1999) and Dancing in September (2000). She
hasn't appeared in a feature film since then, but she continues
to work in television, appearing as a series regular on the
show Soul Food, which began it's run in 2000. As best I can
tell, she is or was married to Mekhi Phifer, star of 8 Mile
and TV's ER and with whom she starred in High School High. |
