| The
Writeup: Majel Barrett is best known for being married
to Gene Rodenberry, and appearing in the work he is known
for creating. She appeared as Nurse Christine Chapel on the
original Star Trek series from 1966-1969. I'm assuming that
this is where she met Gene Rodenberry, who was the creator
of the series. The two were married in 1969 and stayed that
way until his death in 1991. Before marrying Rodenberry Majel
actually had something of a feature film career, appearing
in The Buccaneer (1958), Love in a Goldfish Bowl (1961), The
Quick and the Dead (1963), Sylvia (1965), Country Boy (1966),
A Guide for the Married Man (1967), and Track of Thunder (1968).
After her marriage, she mostly stuck to Star Trek related
projects, including two movies as Christine Chapel, and three
movies as the Enterprise Computer (voice). She also appeared
as Lwaxana Troi in six episodes of The Next Generation series.
She has had guest starring roles on Voyager and Deep Space
Nine as well, playing the voice of the computer. In 2000 she
exec produced the Gene Rodenberry series Andromeda for one
year, and considering Star Trek is a multi billion dollar
franchise, she is probably quite wealthy. |
