The
Writeup: A former model with a distinct New York
persona, Lorraine was once tagged as a possible big star
of the future. She appeared in a few European productions
when she was working for Radio Luxemborg, but American audiences
didn't get a look at her until 1987's Someone To Watch Over
Me. She had a few other roles in the following years, none
memorable though, and it wasn't until her portrayal of Mafia
wife Karen Hill in Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas that Lorraine
moved into the upper ranks of Hollywood actresses and earned
the tag of future star. She even earned an Oscar nomination
for the role. Unfortunately, few of her choices after Goodfellas
worked out, and Lorraine's career nearly derailed completely.
It wasn't until she was cast as Dr. Jennifer Melfi in the
HBO series The Sopranos that Lorraine made it back into
the mainstream. Now she's a valuable character actress and
sometimes leading lady.
