Writeup: A Juilliard trained cellist, Lori Singer
got into acting because of the success of her twin brother
Marc in Hollywood. In 1982 she auditioned for, and got the
part of cellist Julie Miller on the popular series Fame (no
shocker that the talented cellist nabbed the part of a cellist).
The played the role until 1983 and then moved on to bigger
and better things. The feature film Footloose was that bigger
and better thing, and it happened to be her debut feature
film. It grossed $80,000,000, a sizable sum considering it's
paltry budget, and made Lori into a low level star. She never
really rose above this level, but appeared in a number of
films throughout the 80s and 90s. The most notable of these
includes The Man with One Red Shoe (1985), Summer Heat (1987),
Made in USA (1988), Warlock (1989), Short Cuts (1993), and
Sunset Grill (1993). In 1995 she appeared as the lead in the
short lived series VR.5 and has only appeared in the independent
film Bach Cello Suite #4: Sarabande (1997) since then. |
