| The
Writeup: Born in Ontario, Canada, Lois Maxwell dreamed
of acting from a young age and was acting on a Canadian childrens
radio program in her teens. While touring England entertaining
troops she found her way into the The Royal Academy of Dramatic
Art in London, where she would meet Roger Moore, whom she
would later appear with on screen. Her feature film debut
came in a small role in Stairway to Heaven (1946, uncredited
in fact), and followed that up with Corridor of Mirrors (1948),
The Decision of Christopher Blake (1948), The Crime Doctor's
Diary (1949), and Tomorrow Is Too Late (1949) before moving
to Italy and trying her luck in the film industry there. As
far as I know she never really had much luck, and in truth,
she didn't have a great deal of luck in the US outside of
her recurring role in the James Bond films as Miss Moneypenny.
She appeared in 14 Bond films throughout her career, starting
with Dr. No in 1962 and finishing with 1985's A View To A
Kill. Fans of the series will always remember Lois. |
