Writeup: Linda Lovelace is quite possibly one of the
best known porn stars of all time. She appeared in a number
of underground hardcore films before breaking through to the
mainstream with 1972's feature film Deep Throat, the most
famous porn film of all time. The movie went on to make over
$600 million worldwide, an unheard of gross for any movie
at the time, let alone a porn film (it played in respectable
movie houses around the country). It's probably the last time
a porn film was so widely accepted. Linda attempted to capitalize
on her success with a more legitimate film career, but both
Deep Throat II and Linda Lovelace For President bombed horribly.
Linda dropped out of the movie biz at that point, and before
her death in 2002 was an anti porn crusader. |
