| The
Writeup: Linda Hunt is a bit of an amazing story,
at least in my opinion. Only 4'9" and not exactly blessed
with good looks, she has managed to work more than a great
deal of her peers in the last 25 years. Because of her stature,
she is often cast as something of a novelty, but this woman
is also a serious actress. The second film she appeared in,
The Year of Living Dangerously (1982), won her an Oscar for
Best Supporting Actress. While this is an amazing feat, and
something to be celebrated, it's also quite difficult to top
it. And while Linda never did manage to top her performance
and acclaim in that role, she has had a number of quality
roles, and some goofy ones, over the past 25 years. The most
notable are Dune (1984), Eleni (1985), Waiting for the Moon
(1987), Kindergarten Cop (1990), If Looks Could Kill (1991),
Rain Without Thunder (1992), Younger and Younger (1993), Prêt-à-Porter
(1994), Pocahontas (1995 - voice only), The Relic (1997),
and Dragonfly (2002). She also has a recurring role as Judge
Zoey Hiller on ABC's The Practice. |
