Writeup: Laurie Holden was born on December 17, 1972
in Los Angeles, CA to parents Larry Holden and Adrienne Ellis.
Her parents were divorced when she was 5 and Laurie began
splitting her time between Toronto and Los Angeles. She attended
Montreal's McGill University for her freshman year but transferred
to UCLA and graduated in 1993 with a BA in theater arts. While
attending school Laurie worked on her acting career, making
her feature film debut in 1986 in Separate Vacations. Other
feature films include Expect No Mercy (1995), Past Perfect
(1998), The Majestic (2001), Meet Market (2004) and Bailey
(2004), but it's her TV work that remains her most notable.
Many sci-fi fans probably remember her as Marita Covarrubias
from The X-Files, a guest starring role that she reprised
in 11 roles over the years. She has also been a series regular
on the shows Scales of Justice (1990), Family Passions (1993),
Destiny Ridge (1993), and The Magnificent Seven (1998). It
seems as though her feature film career is picking up again
after the terrible failure of The Majestic, so watch the big
screen for signs of Laurie in the future. |
