Writeup: Kerri Kenney is a gifted comic actress who
has struggled to kick ass in Hollywood, but those of us who
have seen her work recognize it as genius. She first appeared
before our eyes on the 1994 MTV sketch comedy series The State,
which was an amusing show and left an impression on young
viewers. Another pseudo sketch show, Viva Variety, followed
in 1996, and was a hit although somewhat short lived. It wasn't
until 2001 that we saw her on TV again, this time on the CBS
show The Ellen Show. The whole idea for the show was really
misconceived and it was gone by the end of year 1 as well.
Her latest effort is the Comedy Central series Reno 911!,
and let me tell you, it's brilliant. It's a parody of Cops!,
and it is so brilliantly written (Kerri is a writer on the
show), and the actors play it so perfectly that you can't
help but laugh. Kerri has also appeared in the feature film
Love God (1997), Terror Firmer (1999), and Waiting (2000),
none of which made it even to your Blockbuster (I think, although
I can't really be sure). |
