Writeup: A Juilliard trained actress, Kelly McGillis
shot to stardom quickly, but full back down just as quickly.
She first appeared on screen in Reuben, Reuben (1983), a role
which convinced Peter Weir to cast her opposite Harrison Ford
as an Amish girl in Witness (1985). The successful film made
her a hot commodity, and next it was on to the female lead
in Top Gun (1986), starring opposite Tom Cruise. The film
was a huge commercial hit, giving her some box office cred.
After that though, it was mostly downhill unfortunately. She
was in a few quality films, The Accused for instance, but
she failed to garner any notice. She now appears in the occasional
studio picture (At First Sight, North), but spends most of
her time acting in independent films. |
