Writeup: I remember Kathleen Turner best from her
role as Joan Wilder in the 1984 film Romancing The Stone,
and it's sequel The Jewel Of The Nile. She starred opposite
Michael Douglas, and in my opinion, both films are modern
classics (I don't think many other people would agree with
me, although she was nominated for a Golden Globe for the
first). It's probably not an overstatement to say that Kathleen's
career high came in 1987 when she was nominated for an Oscar
for the film Peggy Sue Got Married. It was a star turn, and
it made Kathleen into a hot commodity. Up to 1995, she worked
furiously, churning out a number of movies, with mixed results.
Serial Mom was funny, but ridiculous, and Undercover Blues
was a quality film, though underappreciated. She doesn't work
a great deal anymore, nothing since 2000 in fact, but she
remains a quality performer. |
