Writeup: First a child actress and now prepping to
be an adult star, Kate Maberly made her feature film debut
in Ex (1991) at the age of 9. She also starred in the TV movie
Anglo Saxon Attitudes that very same year. Born in England,
she has appeared primarily in British productions, although
there has been the occasional branching out into an American
produced project, like the TV movies Gulliver's Travels or
The Langoliers. Her big breakthrough came in 1993 when she
starred in The Secret Garden, playing Mary Lennox. It made
her a desirable child actress and she worked a great deal
in TV after that, also doing the feature film Friendships
Field (1995). Once quoted as saying she didn't wish to pursue
acting as an adult, Kate has apparently changed her mind,
because in 2004 she will be appearing in J.M. Barrie's Neverland,
playing Wendy Darling. She also appeared in the 2002 flick
Simon: An English Legionnaire (2002). The truth is, she has
become a beautiful woman and is clearly a fine actress. |
