Writeup: Not exactly a prolific actress during her
heyday, Julie is still well remembered by fans around the
world. Born in Los Angeles in 1933, Julie studied piano, dance
and classical ballet from an early age and even graduated
high school at 15. She attended UCLA and studied classical
piano, philosophy and French. In 1955 Julie made her Broadway
debut as the ballerina in Silk Stockings. Next she won acclaim
for her role as Stupefyin' Jones in Lil' Abner. Julie was
acclaimed for her good looks and often posed in pinup style
pictures, raising her profile among the young men of America.
When it came to films, she was never as successful as she
was on the stage. She made her debut in The Band Wagon (1953)
and was next featured in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954).
Other notable film roles include Li'l Abner (1959), The Marriage-Go-Round
(1961), For Love or Money (1963), Mother (1970), Love Scenes
(1984), Evils of the Night (1985) and Nudity Required (1988).
There's a good chance she is best remembered for her frequent
guest starring appearances as Catwoman on the 60s series Batman,
starring Adam West. She also appeared on the 1964 series My
Living Doll, playing a robot. Her latest work was the 2003
TV movie Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam
and Burt. |
