| The
Writeup: An actress of varying (though impressive)
credits, Julie Harris has appeared in more than 30 feature
films, 25 TV movies, and countless Broadway plays in her career.
She is the winner of more than 20 awards in her career, including
multiple Emmy's and 5 Tony's. She made her feature film debut
in The Member of the Wedding (1952), reprising the role she
played on Broadway, and nabbing her only Oscar nomination
in the process. Other notable feature film credits include
The Truth About Women (1958), The Haunting (1963), Hamlet
(1964), Tarzan and the Perils of Charity Jones (1967, playing
Charity Jones), Journey Into Midnight (1968), Voyage of the
Damned (1976), The Adventure of Dian Fossey (1988), and Carried
Away (1996). It's quite possible that Julie is better known
for her TV work than anything else, despite a list of impressive
credits. She appeared on the short lived shows Thicker Than
Water (1973) and The Family Holvak (1975) before landing the
role of a lifetime on Knots Landing in 1980. She played Lilimae
Clements for 1980, and then from 1981-1987, racking up a number
of Emmy nominations in the process. Due to the shows popularity,
Julie also racked up a huge base of fans, ensuring her an
everlasting career in TV movies, which she has done a number
of since starting work on Knots Landing. |
