| The
Writeup: An actress from a very young age, Julia was
taking drama lessons at age 10 and eventually attended the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her stage debut came at
age 18 in a production of The Girl in the Freudian Slip and
she has appeared on Broadway in Once In a Lifetime and The
Enchanted as well as starring in countless other regional
theater productions. While in New York she landed a role on
the soap Love of Life (1972), playin Gerry Braylee for one
year. This led to a four year run on The Doctors, another
soap, playing Penny Davis from 1973-1977. In 1978 she moved
to Los Angeles to pursue bigger and better things. She first
appeared as a guest star on TV shows like The Love Boat, Eight
Is Enough, Lou Grant, and Cheers before being cast as Princess
Ariel on Wizards and Warriors (1983), which ended up being
quite short lived, thankfully. I say thankfully because we
were then priveliged to see Julia cast on Newhart, a hugely
popular 80s show which ran until 1990 and earned Julia seven
Emmy nominations. More TV roles followed, including a year
on Designing Women (1991-92), Baby Talk (1991), The Mommies
(1993-95), Social Studies (1997), and her current gig as Mrs.
Hodge on Reba (2001-????). She recently had two feature film
roles in the forgettable Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met
Lloyd (2003) and the delightful Intolerable Cruelty (2003).
