Writeup: Born in the Bronx in 1968, Judy Reyes has
been working in films and television since 1992 when she appeared
in the feature film Jack and His Friends (1992). That same
year she guest starred on Law & Order, the launching pad
for too many careers to count. She spent the next six years
in relative obscurity, appearing in feature films like Lena's
Dreams (1997), Went to Coney Island on a Mission From God...
Be Back by Five (1998) and an uncredited role in Godzilla
(1998) before being cast on the HBO series Oz in 1999, playing
the role of Tina Rivera for one season. This led to better
roles for her, including the Scorcese film Bringing Out the
Dead (1999, this was not a good movie), and Home Invaders
(2001) and King of the Jungle (2001). 2001 brought her biggest
success when she was cast as Nurse Carla Espinosa, one of
the lead females, on NBC's popular show Scrubs. After it's
successful first year it was given the coveted post Friends
timeslot and performed admirably. It is currently on the Thursday
night schedule, nabbing nearly 17 million viewers each week.
Judy is also absolutely hilarious in the role. |
