| The
Writeup: Joan Collins began her career in England,
performing in a number of little known movies before gaining
international fame as the femme fatale in Land Of The Pharaohs.
She moved over to the states afterwards and began a string
of quality film roles. These include The Virgin Queen, The
Girl In The Red Velvet Swing, The Opposite Sex, The Bravados,
Seven Thieves and more. In 1963 she married Anthony Newley
and scaled back her work dramatically. The pair divorced in
1971 however and Joan went back to work, but her luster had
apparently worn off and she wasn't working the quality level
of films prior to her married, mostly silly horror films and
the like. She made a number of TV guest starring appearances
as well. It wasn't until 1981 that Joan became a huge, world
wide star and cemented her legacy forever. It was this year
that Joan landed the role of Alexis Carrrington, mega bitch,
on the prime time soap, a role she would play to perfection
for eight years. During that time she nabbed one Emmy nom
and six Golden Globe noms, taking home one. It's the role
that made her an undeniable star, and she's cashed in on it
ever since, starring in TV movies, mini series' and more. |
