Writeup: Jeanne Moreau made her feature film debut
in 1949's Last Love, but it wasn't until ten years later that
she achieved true fame, becoming one of the most in demand
actresses of the 60s. It was in 1958 that Jeanne broke out,
starring in Frantic (1958) and The Lovers (1958), both arthouse
successes that brought her to the forefront of Hollywood.
One of the most beautiful and sensual actresses of her time,
it didn't take long for Jeanne to become a big time box office
attraction. In the 60s she was much in demand and starred
in films like La Notte (1961), Jules and Jim (1961), Eva (1962),
The Trial (1963), Diary of a Chambermaid (1964), Chimes at
Midnight (1966), and The Bride Wore Black (1968). The 60s
were definitely her heyday, but some of her latter work includes
Dear Louise (1972), Joanna Francesa (1973), French Provincial
(1975), Mr. Klein (1976), Heat of Desire (1981), and La Femme
Nikita (1990). As she progressed in age she appeared more
and more in French productions, and received accolades for
her performances across the Atlantic, nabbing three nominations
for the César awards and taking home an honorary statue in
1995. |
