Writeup: Jane Curtin was 27 years old when she went
in for an audition for a sketch comedy show. She landed the
part, and the resulting show, Saturday Night Live, turned
out to be a huge hit, so big that it's still running today,
nearly 30 years later. She was with the show until her original
5 year contract ran out, leaving in 1980. She starred in a
few TV movies afterwards, including Divorce Wars: A Love Story
(1982) and Broadway on Showtime: Candida (1982), before being
cast as Allie Lowell on the popular 80s series Kate &
Allie, which ran from 1984-1989. She has remained primarily
a TV actress for most of her career, with a few feature film
roles here and there, such as How to Beat the High Co$t of
Living (1980), O.C. and Stiggs (1987), Coneheads (1993) and
Antz (1999 - which she provided a voice for). She has also
starred on two more shows: Working It Out (1990 - canceled
very quickly), and 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996-2001). She
most recently starred in the off Broadway play, Our Town at
the Westport Country Playhouse in CT, opposite Paul Newman. |
