Writeup: Born in 1956 in North Carolina, Jackee Harry
took up acting after a stint as a history teacher, deciding
that teaching was too boring for her. She first appeared on
Broadway, in shows like "Eubie!" and "The Wiz"
before graduating to her most notable medium, television.
Her first notable role came on Another World, where she played
Lily Mason from 1983-1986. She has subsequently worked fairly
steadily on TV, appearing on the show 227, a series about
an apartment building an it's tenants, from 1985-1989. Other
shows include the Red Foxx starrer The Royal Family, although
he passed away shortly after filming on the show began, Sister,
Sister (1994-1999, she also directed a few episodes), and
To Tell the Truth (2000), a game show. She also appeared in
a few TV movies in the beginning of her career, including
The Incredible Ida Early (1987), The Women of Brewster Place
(1989), and We'll Take Manhattan (1990). Her only feature
film is the Rodney Dangerfield starrer Ladybugs (1992). |
