Writeup: Hedy Lamarr made her film debut in her native
Austria, appearing in the 1930 release Geld Auf Der Strasse.
It was her role in the 1933 film Ecstasy (it's US title) that
really garnered her fame. The role called for her for appear
completely nude and simulate an orgasm, quite a thing back
in the 30s. After the furor surrounding the film she bascially
disappeared from the big screen, resurfacing in the United
States in 1938 in the film Algiers. She was signed to a contract
at MGM in 1939 and almost immediately was put into their big
time films opposite some of Hollywood's biggest leading men.
Some of her notable films include Come Live With Me (1941),
I Take This Woman (1941), Crossroads (1942), the Heavenly
Body (1943), Experiment Perilous (1944), The Strange Woman
(1946), Dishonored Lady (1947), My Favorite Spy (1951), and
The Story Of Mankind (1957). She was married an extraordinary
six times. |
