Writeup: Geri Halliwell became a star around the world
when the Spice Girls, a manufactured British pop group, broke
into the big time in the mid 90s and sold a buttload of albums.
Their hit single, Wannabe, was all over the airwaves and the
video, featuring the scantily clad girls, was a big hit. The
band was bound to quickly flame out, the follow up album didn't
sell well at all, but it was sweet while it lasted. They made
a movie, Spice World, that wasn't really a hit in the US,
and Geri left the band shortly thereafter. She has releaed
her own album, a big seller in Britain but a paltry effort
in the US. She remains a very popular figure in her native
country, but has faded to obscurity here in the United States.
A comeback may be in the offing though, she has a role in
the 2004 film Fat Slags and may yet establish an acting career.
