| The
Writeup: Geraldine McEwan is a veteran British actress
who has developed an amazing career in the theater and has
an impressive array of film and television credits. However,
she doesn't work all that frequently, having appeared in only
18 feature films in over 50 years. She made her feature film
debut in There Was a Young Lady (1953), and over the years
has worked on and off in films, the most notable including
Beware of Children (1960), The Dance of Death (1969), The
Littlest Horse Thieves (1977), Henry V (1989), Robin Hood:
Prince of Thieves (1991). In the late 90s there seemed to
be an explosion of feature film work for her, where she appeared
in as many films as she had her first 45 years in the pictures
business. Included in these films are The Love Letter (1999),
Love's Labour's Lost (2000), Food of Love (2002), The Magdalene
Sisters (2002), Vanity Fair (2004) and The Lazarus Child (2004).
She has also been a regular cast member of the TV shows The
Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1978), Tears Before Bedtime (1983),
Mapp & Lucia (1985-86), and Mulberry (1992). |
