Writeup: Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Fionnula
moved to Los Angeles in 1968 and has resided there ever since,
working almost constantly in various forms of Hollywood entertainment.
She made her feature film debut in Ulysses (1967), an adaptation
of the James Joyce book. Fionnula had something of an obsession
with James, adapting his book James Joyce's Women for the
stage and playing all six parts. She also saw to it that the
book made it's way to a feature film (she was a producer),
and played the part of Harriet Shaw Weaver in the 1985 version.
Other feature films include Mr. Patman (1980), A State of
Emergency (1986), Mad at the Moon (1992), Wakng Ned Devine
(1998), With or Without You (1999), The Others (2001), and
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002). In the 70s
she appeared in two Emmy winning mini series', Rich Man, Poor
Man (1976), for which she won a Best Actress Emmy, and How
the West Was Won (1978), for which she was nominated for a
Best Actress Emmy. Her TV movie experience includes The Picture
of Dorian Gray (1973), Nightmare in Badham County (1976),
Through Naked Eyes (1983), The Ewok Adventure (1984), which
was absolutely dreadful, and Death Dreams (1991). |
