Writeup: A talented actress of both stage and screen,
having experience in theater before making her small screen
debut in the soap opera The Doctors, on which she appeared
in the early 70s. A role on the soap The Edge Of The Night
followed from 1974-76. After that it was more TV, a great
deal more in fact. She starred in On Our Own (1977-78), Out
of the Blue (1979), Filthy Rich (1982-83), and appeared for
a year as Maggie Drummond on Diff'rent Strokes (1984-85).
It was in 1986 that Dixie bagged the role that we all know
her by today. She was cast as Julia Sugarbaker on the popular
show Designing Women in 1986 and starred on the show until
it's run ended in 1993. She got back into series TV in the
late 90s on the show Family Law (1999-2002) and Ladies Man
(1999-2000). Always a TV actress, she has also appeared in
a few TV movies, including The Killing of Randy Webster (1981),
Dazzle (1995) and Comfort and Joy (2003). |
